Message from Uganda Part II

One person in the audience asked Felix, "What can we do"...without any hesitation he responded by saying "please pray for us!" I have to admit, when I first heard the question my natural thoughts headed straight to money. To my surprise that is not what he asked for. Could he use our financial support? Definately...but he asked for our prayers. He wanted to go back and say the church in America is praying for you.

I was very surprised how much hope factored into the whole thing. He said that without hope, people give up. Life is so difficult that he said they don't tell many of the orphans that their parents are dead because they fear the children will commit suicide. Felix's organization seeks to provide a very tangible source of hope that will then give them the ability to share the love of Jesus Christ with the people.

They see the tangible evidence from the family of God, the worldwide family of God caring for them and this is a huge form of hope. The funds that are provided help give them clean water, health care, and Bibles. The people see this and are overwhelmed at the care and compassion that others have on them and their plight.

The fact that Felix can go back and tell them that we will be praying for them gives them the perseverance they need to fight through the hard times. Through this all, they seek to help the people see that our hope is in Christ, and all will be made right in the end.
